Command 2:

Burn the Paths, Draw the Line

Only what survives the fire, stays.

Lines to take root

  • If you don't burn the paths, you will go back.

  • Comfort always whispers. Old identities always call.

  • The line everything: Jesus Christ is God or He's not.

  • Half commitments build half houses that collapse under the first storm.

  • You cannot follow Christ while leaving keys to Egypt in your back pocket.

  • Burn the idols. Burn the identities. Burn the exits.

  • Draw the line. Step over it. Don't look back.

Foundational Verse

Joshua 24:14-15

Now therefore fear the Lord and serve Him in sincerity and in faithfulness.

Put away your gods that your fathers have served beyond the river of the Nile and in Egypt and serve the Lord.

And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve...

But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Personal Witness

I didn’t stumble into this command — I lived it.

I went as far from Christ as a man can go:
psychedelics, yoga, Stoicism, fitness obsession, New Age spirituality, even my own coaching systems.

Some of it had wisdom, some of it had benefits — but none of it could anchor me.

Jesus said, “Every plant my Father has not planted will be pulled up by the roots.”

I felt that. Not rage — pruning.

I burned down everything I built outside of Christ.

Entire frameworks, philosophies, identities — even a book.
Why?

Because they were sand. Not the Rock.

Like Paul, I had to count it all loss. Every identity I crafted. Every belief I pieced together. Every “path” I thought was spiritual.

Burning the paths wasn’t destruction. It was deliverance.

When I finally drew the line —
Jesus Christ is God or He isn’t — everything changed.

The moment I stopped seasoning my life with Jesus and started submitting to Him, the burning became building.

The ashes became clarity.
The silence became direction.

I’m not telling you to burn anything I wasn’t willing to torch myself.

I’m standing on the other side of that fire telling you the truth:

If you don’t burn the paths, you will go back.
If you burn them, you’ll see God.

Tactical Application

Burn the paths behind you — literally.
Delete the apps, contacts, subscriptions, groups, and gateways that tie you to the man you used to be.

This week, choose one idol and crush it.
Jesus doesn’t compete for thrones — He takes them.

Then draw the line:

“Jesus Christ is God — or He isn’t.”

Say it out loud. Write it down. Make it permanent.

The line you draw becomes the boundary of your new life.

Resistance you will feel

  • "You don't have to take it this far."

  • "This identity is who you are, don't burn it."

  • "You'll rebuild later, keep this path open just in case."

  • "You can love God and keep this one thing."

Counterattack:

  • Speak Joshua 24:15 over your life. "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."

  • When you feel the pull of Egypt remember: Egypt wants you dead, not free.

  • Burn something small everyday -- a habit, a lie, a label, a distraction.

  • Remember: The line defines you, the fire frees you.

Your only job is to stay in the fire.
